There is a nice, even look to the race calendar today as there are two flat cards and two jumps cards with action taking place at Bath and Lingfield on the level and at Southwell and Worcester over the sticks. David has runners at both National Hunt meetings with Epic Warrior and Junior Package competing at Southwell and For 'N' Against taking part at Worcester. You may recall that For 'N' Against (pictured above) won an uncompetitive race at Fontwell with ease from a mark of 109 and was clobbered by the handicapper with a 16lbs rise in the weights. He was beaten from 116 last time yet still has to race from 120 today - I will leave you to make your own mind up on that one, it appears that someone has gone mad and for once I don't think it is David!
Over at Southwell, the three mile trip looks as though it will suit Epic Warrior down to the ground - he has run two sound races at Worcester and conditional jockey Kieron Edgar takes a handy 5lbs off his back. Our other runner Junior Package ran his best race yet last time when runner-up in a Worcester bumper although this does look like quite a competitive contest today - he will be ridden by amateur jockey David Noonan who has been among the winners again lately.
I see that jockey Sam Hitchcott had five numbers correct on the National Lottery - you would think that he would be able to retire right? Wrong! He picked up a paltry £572 for his 57,492/1 chance! That doesn't seem like a very good return for five numbers to me...I think I will stick with my horses!
There was an unusual occurrence at Goodwood yesterday as former flat champion jockey Seb Sanders rode Langley Vale without any riding boots on. Seb was struggling to do the weight of 9-5 so rode in just stockinged feet. He broke no rules, although I bet it was very uncomfortable.

What a complete farce between Manchester United and Real Madrid over this David de Gea transfer. Both teams are blaming each other for the collapse in the deal after the necessary paperwork to complete the transfer was received from United one minute after the official deadline. If they had concluded the deal a couple of days ago it could have been sorted out...I wonder who is really to blame?
There appeared to be a bit of panic buying taking place yesterday as the transfer window closed. There were a lot of transactions, although most of the buys seemed to be squad players.
San Marino take on England tonight, although I struggle to see how this can be considered an International match. San Marino have just one point from six matches and this really should be a stroll for England.

I tried to have a little interest on Andy Murray in the US Open tennis yesterday, although I struggled to get any of the 1/2 apparently being offered by Hills. Murray won in four sets and it seemed like easy money if you could get on.
