Kie at Stratford

Today we have six meetings, flat cards at Ascot, Haydock, Kempton, Thirsk and Wolverhampton plus a jumps card at Stratford.  David runs Kie at Stratford in the 3.50, 2m6f handicap chase.  He has won six times and seems to go on any ground.  His last win was in 2014 for Donald McCain and he has won off this mark of 137.  Tom Scu rides in his first chase start for Pond House.  Gevrey Chambertin finished ninth at Auteuil yesterday.  He was not really on a going day and having jumped slowly five out Tom Scu shook him up but he made no impression.  He is now safely back in his box already and there will be other days.

A Saturday always looks so competitive on the flat.  It is big fields in sprint races, just look at Haydock who have a 5F race with 17 runners and a 6F race with 17 runners.  It is a similar story at Ascot with 18 runners in two of their sprint races.  I always give these races a miss!  I did manage to back two winners yesterday at 3/1 and 5/2, making it 13 for the week so not too bad!

I would hope England would score 5 or 6 past San Marino in the football today.  In the papers England are 200/1 on mind you, you can get 80/1 on with Paddy Power.  San Marino are yet to score a goal!  Rooney will probably score and make the headlines - it's harder to score in the Premiership as Wayne knows!  I think my local Torquay would beat this lot!  The game is on at 5pm on ITV.

Meanwhile it is the second One Day International between England and Australia today at Lords.  David is on his way up to London to catch the action and hoping England can win and level the series.

I see that Barcelona will give Neymar £500,000 a week to kill any interest from Manchester United.  The world has gone mad, mind you that is still not as much as Lionel Messi gets!
