It is good to see the stable still among the winners with a couple of nice successes over the weekend.  Kie was impressive when winning by 6 lengths over 2m6 1/2f at Stratford on Saturday - he settled much better than on his previous starts to win from a handicap mark of 137, with similar tactics applied he could follow-up. Meanwhile Low Key proved ultra-game in winning by a short head at Fontwell under a great ride from Tom Scudamore...the margin of victory suggests he should not go up too much in the weights!  Fishy Story also posted a decent first effort when finishing runner-up in the bumper on her racecourse debut.  She can only improve with that experience under her belt and she should be more than capable of winning something similar.

There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Brighton and Windsor as well as a jumps fixture from Perth.  Somehow Brighton manage to get away with prize money of just £29,000 for their seven race - I am amazed they have any runners at all!  The trouble is (as I have said countless times before), if owners and trainers keep running for these sort of prizes, the courses will keep trying to get away with it.

It is the St Leger at Doncaster this weekend and one of the other major attractions of the meeting is the 'Leger Legends' race, more so this year as twenty times champion jockey A P McCoy is taking part.  Betfred boss Fred Done has offered £10,000 for the great man's saddle that is the star lot in the auction for the Jack Berry House and Nothern Racing College Fund.  Personally I think it will raise more than £10,000 so Fred had better be prepared to up his offer!  The Legends race takes place on Wednesday.

England beat San Marino 6-0 over the weekend with Wayne Rooney equalling the goal scoring record.  I ask you this though, who would you rather have on your team...Wayne Rooney or Bobby Charlton, Jimmy Greaves, Ian Wright or even Gary Lineker in their pomps?  I know who I would have and it certainly wouldn't be Rooney - maybe I am just getting old?  As for San Marino, I am of the opinion that they should play in a separate league for the smaller countries that struggle to field a national side.

Tonight Ireland take on Georgia and are 8/15 to win at home.  I can't have Georgia on my mind!  You older readers will get that one.  I will be doubling the Irish up with the Germany who are 4/9 to beat the Scots...sorry Sean!

Did you know that a corpse left out in warm weather will be reduced to a skeleton in just nine days?  What a good way to lose weight!  Have a nice day...
