It is great to see the stable continuing in great form and even though there was no jump racing yesterday, David was still among the winners as Impulsive American won the concluding 1m4f handicap at Chepstow.  Our three year old was given a great ride from champion apprentice elect, Tom Marquand - who is now 5 winners clear at the top of that category.  He is already down to claiming just 3lbs now and on this evidence it won't be long before he rides out his claim altogether.  Impulsive American saw out this twelve furlong trip really well and could be a useful prospect for juvenile hurdling.

Today we have four meetings on the level with action coming from Doncaster where they host day three of their St Leger meeting, Chester, Sandown and Salisbury.  With the horses running so well it is a shame that David doesn't have any runners!

Starluck rolled back the years at Epsom yesterday to win the jump jockeys' Derby.  The ten year old was ridden by Tom Cannon to score by a neck - a good (and very popular) performance under 11-8.

Apparently disgruntled Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea could now stay at the club and sign a new £200,000 per week contract.  I thought that he wanted to go back to Real Madrid for family reasons?  If you are earning £100,000 per week, how will another £100,000 per week change your lifestyle?  It seems to me that his agent Jorge Mendes is doing all the talking and making the deals...it's amazing what a wage increase will do to your mind!

It would appear that just about every sport is being linked to drugs these days and boxing is the latest to come under the microscope with allegations that boxing legend Floyd Mayweather has been on drugs.  With cycling, athletics and now boxing coming under scrutiny how many more sports will be blackened by supposed drugs cheats.  There is no way that I can believe that wholesome mummy Paula Radcliffe has ever been involved in drug using...she is my hero.

Meanwhile, I see that Roger Bannister's shoes that he wore when he became the first man to run a sub-four minute mile have sold at Christies Auction House for £266,500.  My old table tennis bat made £2 (and some people would argue that that is twice as much as it should have made)!

Did you know that an elephant can smell water almost three miles away?  I know a few people who can smell a Bud from three miles away!
