There was another excellent result for the stable when Low Key bolted up in the Cesarewitch Trial under apprentice Tom Marquand at Newmarket on Saturday, picking up £31,000 for his efforts.  He gets a penalty for the big race itself next month and that increases his chances of getting into the line-up.  I see the bookmakers have reacted by shortening him from 33/1 from 14/1...I wonder if Godolphin will be on the phone to buy him?!  Meanwhile, Barneby was sixth at Uttoxeter in the novices' handicap hurdle and I thought it was a reasonable enough run - he had his fair share of weight and he travelled well for a long way before fading in the straight...he can only improve for the experience.

Today is another day without any jumping and there are flat cards from Kempton, Leicester and Hamilton.  David is obviously getting quite excited by the flat racing at the moment as he has a runner at Leicester today.  Ex-French juvenile hurdle winner Instagram takes in the 1m4f maiden at 4.30pm and he is ridden by our former Midlands Grand National winning jockey Mikey Ennis.  He would need to improve on his flat debut to figure and I would imagine he will be going hurdling at some point.

I see that David is still on the hot trainers list with 6 winners from his last 19 runners at a strike rate of 32%...long may it continue!

I am still on cloud nine after the mighty Hammers beat Manchester City 2-1 yesterday.  I did say that they were to big at 10/1 - I just hope a few of you followed me in!  Unfortunately Liverpool let me down for the treble following the successes of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.  I watched the United game and the best player on the pitch by a mile was goalkeeper David de Gea - that is all you need to know.  What a dirty wind-up merchant Chelsea striker Diego Costa is!  He certainly knows how to get players to react and surely the FA have to take some sort of action against him?

Well done to the British Davis Cup team (or should I say Andy Murray?) for reaching the final.  Talk about a one man team, Murray was imperious as GB beat Australia 3-1 in the semis...poor old Australia!  It is the fist time Britain have made it to the final since 1978.  It is now off to Belgium for the decider in November.

How did the European ladies manage to lose the Solheim Cup at the weekend?  There was quite a bit of bad blood between the two sides when a two foot putt was not conceded and American rookie Alison Lee knocked the ball away.  Pettersen claimed the hole...talk about unsporting conduct, they are not playing for the crown jewels!

Why did the echo get detention?  For answering back!  Where do I get them?!  (From a particularly bad joke book - ed.)
