There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Goodwood, Redcar and Kempton as well as a jumps fixture from Perth. The stable has four runners at Perth today and another on the card tomorrow - they all travelled up yesterday and should be nicely rested ahead of their engagements today. According to the Racing Post all four of them (Street Entertainer, Impulsive American, Border Breaker and Epic Warrior) are forecast favourites - Street Entertainer drops in class and has the best recent form of these, while Impulsive American was a winner on the level at Chepstow last time and has schooled well ahead of his hurdling debut in the juvenile. Border Breaker (pictured above) was the winner of the feature chase at the last meeting here and is now 4lbs higher and he should not be inconvenienced by this longer trip. Epic Warrior was also an impressive last time out winner at Southwell - Tom Scudamore is aboard all of our runners. This could be a good day for the stable, let's hope so!
David flew up to Perth yesterday...I wonder if he will be paying a visit to Gleneagles for a spot of golf?!
I see that the appeal starts this morning for Ralph Beckett and Andrea Atzeni as they try to get the St Leger result turned around. Personally I think the Beckett trained Simple Verse should have kept the race and would not be disappointed to see them reverse the decision. The trouble is that the stewards will not want to lose face by admitting they were wrong. Fortunately my wife still got paid out on the disqualified winner...well done Ladbrokes!

I have been in great form with my football betting of late and my little double on Aston Villa and Middlesborough came to fruition in the Capital One Cup last night - I hope a few of you took note and joined me. There are more good matches to look forward to tonight with Spurs taking on Arsenal on Sky at 7.45pm - this one looks too close to call, especially as there is some doubt as to the strength of team either side will turn out. I will be having a crafty little treble on Crystal Palace at 8/13, Manchester United at 4/11 and Chelsea at 4/11...I will be playing up some of my Perth winnings (you have to be positive!).
While we are on the subject of football, can you believe that Diego Costa was only given a three match ban? Personally I would have given him a much bigger ban - you just don't need antics like his in the professional game of football.

Why did the turtle cross the road? To get to the Shell Station! How does Harry Hill make a living (and that is a serious question rather than a joke!)?
