Today we have four meetings taking place with action on the flat from Newmarket, Haydock and Wolverhampton as well as a jumps card from Worcester.  The stable has two runners at Worcester; Purple 'N Gold and Still Together.  Purple 'N Gold won over fences on his chasing debut before finishing a creditable third on his handicap debut over the larger obstacles.  This looks to be another competitive event but he can normally be relied upon to run his race and he has each way claims once again.  Still Together (pictured above) won an Irish point-to-point on heavy ground and he makes his rules debut for the stable in the bumper.  Ground conditions will be much quicker today and Brian Toomey is in the saddle and takes 3lbs off his back.

Unfortunately Ballywilliam failed to show his true form at Perth yesterday afternoon as he finished a well-beaten fourth on his first attempt over hurdles.  He had previously finished placed in an Irish point-to-point and was the impressive winner of a Chepstow bumper last term so this clearly isn't correct.  I am sure there will be plenty of other days for him.

If you ever pay a visit to a betting shop these days, the only punters in there seem to be playing the roulette machines.  They tell me that this is what is sustaining the shops and I can quite believe it.  In our local shop I watch an old lady put £50 in every Saturday...it lasts her about three minutes.  She presses automatic spin and does not even look at the machine!  I can't believe that people are happy to fritter money away on these things.  Sure, you will win from time to time but in the long run there is only one winners (and that is not the punter!).

Why hasn't a big club snapped up QPR player Charlie Austin yet?  He has already scored seven goals from eight games and at a price of around £15 million he would be considered a cheap (!) buy.  Tonight Fulham take on QPR in a local derby - it is on Sky and the kick-off is at 7.45pm.  I reckon QPR could be worth an interest at odds of around 17/10.

I reckon trouble is brewing over at Anfield and Brendan Roger days as Liverpool manager could be numbered unless his team remain unbeaten for the next three or four matches.  The board have been in talks with Jurgen Klopp.  Meanwhile The Newcastle and Sunderland bosses also look to be on a sticky wicket and there is still three months until Christmas!

These two are sure to 'bug' you...

Why was the head louse's football match abandoned?  The fixture was scratched!

Why didn't the midge fancy the mosquito?  He was gnat her type!  Have a great day...
