Happy Birthday Ashley!
David has just the one runner, Lilbourne Legacy at Newton Abbot in the first race today. He has run well in a couple of Irish point to points but fell at this track last time out so a clear round will help his confidence. David Noonan rides. Today there are three meetings in total, 2 flat cards at Hamilton and Bath plus the jumping at Newton Abbot. I see that Wincanton are holding a side saddle race at their meeting on Sunday 25th October. There will be 11 female jockeys racing over 10 furlongs. I had trouble staying on the horse with a leg each side so the race should be worth seeing. It is a charity race in aid of the Southern Spinal Injuries trust so it should be a good watch and hopefully they will raise a good amount of money.
Happy Birthday Ashley Farrant who is 44 today. I could tell you some stories, including ones about some photos on his phone but I could get him in trouble so I better not! Ashley was former champion point to point rider and is now a valuable part of the Pond House team. It is also friend and former owner Angie Malde's birthday as well. Angie has owned so great horses over the years including Polar Champ and Quick but the most notable would have to be the great Bonanza Boy. Happy Birthday Angie!
My team West Ham let me down for a treble in the football on Saturday and I also did my money on the gee gees. I did get some back yesterday by backing Crystal Palace to win at Watford plus three winners on the flat. I bet Newcastle wish they had not let former manager Alan Pardew go. I thought that Man City were going to win the league this year but I am not so sure now! It looks the most open it has been for years and there are three or four teams that could take the title. At the other end of the table Sunderland and Newcastle do not look very good. West Brom take on Everton tonight at 8pm. I have had a small bet on West Brom at 21/10.
I played golf yesterday and we had two strangers play with us. Can you believe they were both Welsh?! Talk about gloating, in the end I told them that the only good thing to come out of Wales was the M4! Even that went over their heads!
What do you call someone who peers through a butchers window? A mince spy! Have a nice day.
