I see there are a few stories concerning David in today's Racing Post after he said, "He is very close to making his return and I am looking forward to getting a full season into him".  He was talking about Dynaste (pictured above) who could make his seasonal return at Auteuil this Sunday in a 2m3 1/2f Grade 3 hurdle - it will certainly be good to see him back after last season was curtailed by injury.  It is a big weekend for the stable as David has the ante-post favourite Low Key in the Cesarewitch at Newmarket and he will be ridden by top apprentice Tom Marquand.

I see that it is Newton Abbot's last fixture of the season on Friday and I have just had to drive straight past the front gates on my way to Pond House and I don't mind telling you, there has been quite a bit of rain in the area.  Indeed, parts of the main road have flooded en route to the yard and I wouldn't be surprised if Newton Abbot was extremely testing come Friday if this rain continues.

Congratulations to young amateur jockey Tom Greatrex who rode his first winner yesterday at Windsor in the amateur riders' handicap.  Tom, who is only 17 is based in our yard and is a budding jump jockey even though he weighs in at just 9 stone.  Tom has already come close over obstacles when runner-up aboard Skylander at Perth and he has his first ride in a chase at Worcester on Thursday.

It is David Pipe's birthday today and the Racing Post claim that he is 80 years old...he doesn't look 80 to me, maybe closer to 60!  I am talking about the other David Pipe of course, David was the PR Manager/Director of Public Affairs for the Jockey Club between 1987 and 1997.

Today there are four meetings and they are all on the level at Leicester, Catterick, Brighton and Kempton.  The stable has no runners this afternoon.

You may recall a couple of weeks ago seeing a picture (right) of a few of us stood next to a steam locomotive about to embark on a murder mystery evening.  Well, we met a lovely couple; Sean Russo and Lucy and we tipped them Low Key for the Cesarewitch Trial at Newmarket and we were thrilled to get an e-mail from Sean telling us that they won a few quid on him.  Furthermore, Sean proposed to Lucy after the train journey and she said yes...this could prove to be a very expensive train trip!  Congratulations to you both.

If Liverpool employ Jurgen Klopp as their new manager he will certainly find it harder to win the Premier League than the Bunders League.  The German league only has two teams that are any good while our league is far more competitive.  I can already see the headlines..."He's Kloppt It", "Liverpool Take A Klopper Hiding", I could go on!  I suppose the next managers who will be looking over their shoulders are Steve McClaren and Tim Sherwood.

I see that World Snooker Champion Stuart Bingham is finally fulfilling one of his dreams by appearing on "A Question Of Sport".  I don't like to boast, but I have been on the show three times whiles skippered by Cliff Morgan, Henry Cooper and Bobby Moore, three great sportsmen who are sadly no longer with us.  The programme has been going a long old time.
