Today we have four meetings with three cards on the level from Leicester, Musselburgh and Wolverhampton as well as a jumps fixture from Huntingdon. The stable runs Impulsive American and Spending Time over the sticks - I thought that Impulsive American ran a cracker last time out at Bangor to finish a close second and this could be a good bit of placement by David. A repeat of his last effort should see him go very close. Meanwhile Spending Time (pictured above) participates in the 4.10pm race and David will be hoping that he can follow-up his last time out win at Stratford. A 9lbs hike in the weights will make things harder although he should go well once again. Over on the level Honeymoon Cocktail runs in 1m 1/2f handicap and will be partnered by Mikey Ennis - he is a 20/1 chance and that just about sums up his chances. He had some decent form in France but has yet to show it in this country.
We have Racing Post pair Ben Newton and Ed Whittaker down at the yard this morning to conduct the Stable Tours that appear in the paper every year. They took us for dinner so be warned, the price of the Post may go up again...only joking! Ed will no doubt be on the gallops with his Brownie this morning - I just hope he doesn't get in the way of us proper photographers! These arty types can get so touchy! The series of tours will start shortly and I see that there is an advert in today's paper with a picture of David and Martin - I can't remember the car that Martin is driving, although that is hardly surprising as he seems to wreck one every six months.
I still vividly recall the time when Martin drove into a ditch in one of the fields as he was reading his Sporting Life at the time! He still drives like a lunatic as anyone who has been down the gallops with him will testify.

I see that Rory McIlroy is a 9/2 chance to win the first event of the season in America. It is the Frys.com Open and it starts on Thursday - I know he is an exceptional talent but he seems a bit short to me as he is bound to be a little ring rusty.
There is more football action taking place tonight and I will be having a little double on Belgium at 4/11 and Bulgaria at 4/6 - I like doubling these short priced faves up.

A thought for the day...It is unlikely that a water company will ever face liquidation!
And finally a giggle to send you on your way with a smile...
Matron: Why are you making the patient jump up and down?
Nurse: Because I've given him some medicine and forgot to shake the bottle!
