Standing Ovation (near side) runs Wincanton
There are just two meetings in this country today, both jumping action at Aintree and Wincanton. David has two runners at Wincanton, Standing Ovation in the 2.45pm handicap chase and Impulsive American in the 4.45pm hurdle race. There are eight runners in the chase and 'Stan' carries 11st 10lb and Conor O'Farrell is on board. He has been in good form over the summer, including when winning the valuable chase at Newton Abbot but he does have to bounce back from a poor run at Chepstow last time. Impulsive American carries bottom weight of 10st 6lb and he ran well just a couple of days ago to finish second at Ludlow. Turning into the straight he looked the winners but a mistake at the last probably cost him the race but David Noonan is on board again and hopefully he can go close.
It is the big Grand Prix in America today and Lewis Hamilton could win his third World title. No Englishman has ever claimed a trio of World titles. There are some funny old rules in F!. Sebastian Vettel will have to take a ten place grid penalty for using too many engines this season. Is it his fault his engine keeps packing up?! My wife says he should not drive so fast...as you can see she is not into sport!
The football match of the day is Sunderland versus Newcastle. Now that is a local derby. At least they will be able to understand each other! It is big Sam's first home game in charge of Sunderland, it could get messy! The other big derby game of course is Man Utd versus Man City. United are odds against. They keep winning but don't seem to be playing that well. It could be an afternoon in front of the telly for me!
I see Moorcroft Racehorse Welfare Charity raised a record £63,000 at Plumpton on Monday. This is good as they had had £75,000 withdrawn by the retraining of racehorses organisation. Well done Plumpton for putting on such a good day.
What is the difference between the Cardiff Millennium Centre and Bambi? One is a Welsh idea, the other is a well-shy deer! Have a good day.
