Weekend Jottings

There are just two jumps cards today with action coming from Cheltenham and Fontwell and there is some great racing in store.  David has runners at both tracks - Bidourey, Willem, Brook and Skylander at Cheltenham and Impulsive American and Big Occasion at Fontwell.  Bidourey (pictured above) takes in the Greatwood Hurdle at 2.40pm (a race we have won in the past with Dell' Arca) - it is a 20 runner handicap hurdle and if you can find the winner of that, then you ought to be buying a lottery ticket as well!  This race looks impossible and as far as I am concerned I would advise a watching brief.

The 3.15pm doesn't get any easier - it is a boys' handicap hurdle and there are no fewer than 24 runners.  David has three runners, Willem, Brook and Skylander and this is another race that I will be watching and cheering!  The action looks a little easier at Fontwell and three year old Impulsive American looks to have a decent chance in the hands of leading amateur David Noonan who takes a useful 7lbs off his back.

Former Midlands National winner and Scottish National runner-up Big Occasion makes his long awaited return from injury in the Southern National at 1.50pm.  It is a marathon handicap over 3m3f and Conor O'Farrell takes the ride - it will certainly be good to see him back on the track.

I think I will be watching the new series of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here - there are some interesting characters including former boxing champion Chris Eubank.  He should certainly cause a bit of controversy in the Australian jungle as he can upset people without even trying!  I wonder what he will be wearing?  England winger Kieron Dyer is also among the participants (unless he gets injured!).

I see that Arsene Wenger is facing an FA inquiry over his doping claims.  The Arsenal manager was quoted in a French magazine saying that he has faced opposition who may have taken performance enhancing drugs.  If you are going to make statements like that, you must be able to back them up.
