What a caking cracking good run from Lady Of Longstone yesterday at Kempton!  She made all at a brisk pace under a well-judged positive ride from leading amateur David Noonan and she found more when challenged to score by 6 lengths from a career high mark of 117.  It looks as though she handled this good/soft surface just fine as she recorded a new personal best effort - her recent improvement is incredible considering that only last month she was winning from a mark of 95.  She still looks to be on the upgrade and with Christmas just around the corner I reckon there could be some Christmas pudding on the menu...you regular readers will know what I mean!

I was very impressed by Mindurownbusiness at Chelmsford City yesterday as he won a very competitive mile handicap in the style of a horse very much on the upgrade.  Roger Varian's four year old colt is really progressive and definitely one to keep on the right side of over the coming months.

There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Lingfield and Sedgefield as well as an all-weather flat card from Southwell.  Stable jockey Tom Scudamore makes his way to Lingfield for just one ride again...that theory really is getting tested to the full at present!

There was a great win for Sunderland last night as they beat Crystal Palace.  Defoe scored in the 80th minute to seal the victory, although it still does not elevate Sunderland out of the bottom three.  I must say that Palace looked by far the better side but as someone once said, football is a funny old game.  I still think Aston Villa, Newcastle and Sunderland are the ones facing the drop, although there are five or six sides who are struggling towards the bottom of the league.  I wonder what price Leicester would have been to top the Premier League thirteen matches into the season?  It is good to see somebody different at the top, although whether they can keep it going throughout the course of a full season remains to be seen.

Every time I hear boxer Tyson Fury talk, I am not sure if he is quite the full ticket!  Now he is saying that drugs should be legalised so that everyone is on a level playing field.  He certainly talks a good fight - let's hope that he can back it up against world champion Vladamir Klitschko in Dusseldorf.
