How much flour or pastry would you be able to buy with £18,766 prize money?! That is the dilemma facing lucky owners Gordon and Sue this morning after their admirable ten year old Houston Dynimo won at Leicester yesterday under man of the moment David Noonan. The jockey said that the low weight helped so not only is he an up and coming jockey, he can read as well! (P.S. being diabetic, not too much sugar in my cake thanks Sue!)
Today there are just three meetings taking place with a jumps card from Plumpton supported by all-weather flat action from Kempton and Wolverhampton. The stable has no runners at Plumpton although stable jockey Tom Scudamore travels to the meeting for just one ride aboard his brother's Streets Of Promise. David does have a rare runner on the all-weather today as Honeymoon Cocktail goes in the one mile handicap at 4.50pm. He carries top weight and would have a chance on the best of his form in France although he would need to improve on recent efforts to figure under Willie Twiston-Davies.

What a weekend of sport with Andy Murray, sorry Great Britain winning the Davis Cup tennis. I wonder if there has ever been a supposed "team event" dominated so much by one player before? In racing terms Andy Murray is a Gold Cup winner competing among a bunch of selling chasers. The Lawn Tennis Association has spent millions trying to find another Andy Murray but they haven't found the answer yet. Even so, a British win in the Davis Cup is a fantastic achievement.

There was more British success when Tyson Fury became World Heavyweight boxing champion on Saturday night following his points victory over Vladimir Klitschko in Germany. It was a great result for Fury as normally you have to knock your opponent out to get a draw over there! He was a 12/1 chance to win on points so this was a great performance although I find it difficult to compare him to the likes of Clay, Lewis or even Mike Tyson but he is world champion and holds all three belts so fair play to him. It's just as well he can box because he wouldn't be able to make a career out of singing - he serenaded his wife after his victory with plenty of the crowd joining in. He will certainly be richly rewarded if he defends his title in Germany - they seem to love a bit of Fury.

Hairdressers had to duck for cover when a female driver of 88 crashed her Volkswagen Polo into a salon in Wordsley, West Midlands. Sounds like all involved had a close shave and I'm sure it was a hair raising experience!
