There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with a jumps card from Musselburgh as well as a couple of all-weather flat fixtures from Lingfield and Chelmsford City. David does not have any runners this afternoon and stable jockey Tom Scudamore travels all the way to Musselburgh for a couple of rides. The stable horses ran well on Saturday without managing to get their heads in front - I am pleased I do not bet in running as I would have lost money on both Ballywilliam and Top Wood at Chepstow. Both looked likely winners coming to the last only to get run out of things close home - I am sure their turns are not far away.
How on earth did Sire de Grugy keep the Tingle Creek at Sandown on Saturday? He should have been kicked out for knocking Special Tiara sideways at the last. The Moore family are enjoying winner after winner and luck is clearly on their side to...I think I would be buying a lottery ticket if I were them!
Tom Scudamore was handed a five day ban for his ride aboard Soll in the Becher Chase at Aintree on Saturday. It seems a bit harsh when all he seemed to do was keep his line and stop a rival who was off the track and out of position from coming up his inside...but that is my perspective. He is taking advice as to whether to appeal or not as if the dates stand he will miss some very important rides on Boxing Day.

What a result for Newcastle as they beat Liverpool 2-0. In fairness Steve McClaren's men played very well and the manager has been eased to 8/1 for the sack. The manager with the most to fear at present is Gary Monk who is now a 1/3 chance to be next in line for the door. Rumour has it that David Moyes will take over at Swansea - he did such a good job at United didn't he...just a bit of sarcasm!
I will be watching tonight as Moyes' old side Everton take on Crystal Palace. Coverage is on Sky at 8pm and I hope it doesn't clash with any of the soaps otherwise Mrs Barnes is going to be disappointed!

Tyson Fury has been talking a good fight once again. The heavyweight champion has said that he has more character than all of the BBC Sports Personality nominees put together. He has won a lot of women over with his view, "My belief is that my wife should be at home looking after my kids and cooking and cleaning. She's a very privileged woman to have a husband like me" - Mrs Barnes says that he seems a very nice man...now I think she is being sarcastic!

There was some good news for the burglar who fell into a combine harvester while on the run last week. His family said that he will soon be out on bale! Oh dear, it must be Monday...
