There are just two meetings taking place this afternoon - a jumps card at Fakenham and an all-weather flat card at Lingfield.  David has two runners this afternoon; Houston Dynimo who contests the 2m7 1/2f handicap hurdle and What A Moment who contests the maiden hurdle at 3.20pm.  Houston Dynimo is an evergreen veteran, our ten year old winning two of his last three starts and he is partnered by David Noonan who takes a useful 5lbs off his back on this return to the smaller obstacles.  What A Moment was a Towcester bumper winner last term and finished fourth on his seasonal debut at Sandown a couple of weeks ago - Tom Scudamore takes the ride aboard him and both of our runners look to have sound claims today.

I have a great sporting Sunday lined up with golf early in the morning then I will be entrenched in front of the television for the football as Watford take on Liverpool and Swansea host my beloved West Ham, while I will also be watching our runners at Fakenham.  I certainly hope Mrs Barnes doesn't hide the remotes!

David and Martin are off to Belfast today for the Sports Personality of the Year Awards and it is great that A P McCoy has been honoured with a lifetime achievement award.  It is about time that racing received more coverage on SPOTY - I remember years ago it was given it's own section which provided a proper review of the year but that sadly is long gone.  The camera normally pans around the audience, so if you keep a close eye out you may see David and Martin.  Anyway, I have told Martin that he is not to upset world heavyweight champion boxer Tyson Fury.  I told him he would be the one who is about a foot taller than anybody else and will not have any women sat in his vicinity.

While we are on the subject of Boxing, I wonder how long it will be before Anthony Joshua fights Tyson Fury?  He says that he would fight him now but would be a hard fight, "when I am ready I'll make it an easy fight" - a heavyweight with some common sense...if you can get a price about Joshua becoming world champion, take it.

I was watching some of the world darts championships and I don't think I have ever seen so many fancy dress outfits.  The crowd really does make an amazing effort and they look brilliant.  Personally I think there should be a best turned out prize...come on Hills, put up a prize!

There was trouble when a cement mixer collided with a prison van.  Motorists are being asked to keep a lookout for 16 hardened criminals!
