There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with a jumps card from Huntingdon as well as three all-weather flat fixtures from Chelmsford City, Wolverhampton and Kempton. David has two runners at Huntingdon today; Still Together and Iniciar and they are both big prices according to the Racing Post. Still Together (pictured above) did win an Irish point-to-point on heavy ground but is yet to show much in this country and he has a tough assignment against Potters Legend who is a big odds-on chance and very much the one to beat. Iniciar was a good flat performer back in France but he hasn't improved for the switch to hurdling.
There is a picture of Worcester racecourse in today's Post and it more closely resembles a boating lake at present. The course is completely flooded and it would be fascinating to know how long it will be before it is raceable again.
I see that David is the guest in today's Paper with his New Year's predictions. When asked for his Cheltenham or Aintree banker he replied that there is no such thing. Talk about sitting on the fence - if his dad had been asked the same question he would have told them about one that had already won in his opinion and to have as much as you like on. Remember he famously once told A P McCoy as he was legging him up for a twenty-four runner handicap at the Festival that it was the biggest certainty he had ever sat on! He was proven right when Unsinkable Boxer bolted up in what is now known as the Pertemps.

What about Pranav Dhanawade? The Indian schoolboy had quite a cricketing knock as he scored 1009 runs from just 396 balls, beating the record of Arthur Collins from Bristol Clifton college in 1899 which stood at 628. He said that he just played his normal attacking game!
Talking of cricket, if you produce wickets like the one at Cape Town you are going to get draws. How often do both sides score over 600 runs (unless you have a Pranav Dhanawade on either side!)? The crowd looked bored to tears as you could see what the result was going to be long before it happened. I can quite understand why limited overs cricket has become so much more popular.

There has been plenty of talk that Pep Guardiola is coming to the Premier League. Does a manager really make that much difference to a football team? How would he get on as the manager of Aston Villa? I rest my case!
