Well it is certainly going to be a quiet day with just one all-weather flat meeting taking place at Southwell. If you are missing a bit of jumps action there is a good card taking place at Fairyhouse in Ireland this afternoon with a £100,000 handicap chase at 2.20pm. The meeting is covered by Attheraces so I will be watching that while flicking between football matches - Mrs Barnes will be pleased to hear that! I wonder why the BHA didn't try to put on one of those all-weather jumps cards - they do not take long to organise and quite a few trainers would like to give their horses a good blow-out.
I see Sam Twiston-Davies' car broke down last week so he finished up going to Towcester in his dad's old red van. He said he took some stick from his weighing room colleagues who all kept referring to him as Postman Pat! With a treble at Doncaster on Friday, he certainly delivered this week!

There are five more FA Cup matches taking place today and the best of them looks to be Spurs versus Leicester and kick-off is at 4pm. Both defences are a bit suspect but I think Tottenham will just get the upper hand. I will have a cheeky little treble on Spurs at 4/6, Cardiff at 4/5 and Swansea at even money to put the bread on the Barnes table next week!
Former England spin bowler Phil Tuffnell has had to have stitches in his lips and cheeks after catching the sun. Too much sun and not enough sun block - you would have thought that Tuffers would have put it all over his head. Sadly, too much sun is not a problem we are likely to have to worry about any time soon!
Talking about the weather, the golf in South Africa was stopped owing to too much rain...at least we are not the only one's suffering!
They have just started that 280 mile race across the Lake District. It takes five days of non-stop running and is like running from London to Newcastle except that the scenery is much better!
