Attention to Ireland

With the abandonment of Kelso we are left with just one all-weather flat meeting at Kempton today but there is a good jumps card at Leopardstown.  There is good prize money on offer in Ireland with 2 races worth over £100,000 but I cannot see many English raiders.  Ladbrokes Mike Dillon was in Barbados to celebrate his 64th birthday but unfortunately British Airways lost his luggage.  I wonder what odds he would have got on that!  Mind you, it is so hot at this time of year he would not need many clothes!  I hear that owner William Frewen  has been spotted at the cricket in South Africa, he certainly has some good action to watch.  It's a tough life but I am only jealous I am not there!

Down in Brixham we have had four days of frost and I have had to scrape the windscreen on my car.  Believe me, we do not get many frosts and it has been a year since I last had to that!  Just think if you could invent a windscreen that did not frost over you would make a fortune!

If you are down in the South West today and do fancy a bit of jumping action, there is the local point to point at Black Forest Lodge near Exeter.  According to my sources the track should beat the weather and as and added bonus you will get to see Olympic gold medal cyclist Victoria Pendleton in action as well.  The first race is at 12 noon and wrap up warm if you are going! 

The big game in the football today is Liverpool versus Man United and we have owners that are big supporters of both clubs.  Terry Neill is a Liverpool fan and Stuart Mercer is a United fan.  Liverpool are 7/5, there should be goals and I just favour the Scousers - sorry Stuart!

Dart player Michael Van Gerwen would be the first player to win a million pounds in prize money in a year.  It is amazing just how big a sport that darts has become.  This year alone there is £10 million in prize money on offer.  Just think you don't have to be too fit or too young, just you have to be able to drink a few pints.  It sounds the perfect sport to take up!  Obviously it does require skill and a large amount of practice but why let that get in the way off a good story!

Why are aunties like a box of chocolates?  Most of them are quite sweet but you do get a few nutty ones!  Have a good day.
