Winner at Huntingdon - Taj Badalandabad
Everyone please beware there is a 10am inspection at Cheltenham today following 15mm of rain overnight which has left the track heavy, waterlogged in places. Fingers crossed racing will go ahead as there is some fantastic action to look forward to and I am sure they will be doing everything they can so it goes ahead but we are in lap of the gods. There are two other jumps cards today at Doncaster and Uttoxeter plus a flat card at Lingfield. David has two runners at Cheltenham, Un Temps Pour Tout in the 1.15pm 15 runner handicap chase and Champers on Ice in the 3pm novice hurdle. Un Temps Pour Tout carries top weight and has Tom Scu on board. The French Champion hurdle winner has run well in both of his chase starts so far and hopefully he should put up another good show. Champers On Ice has won three of his last four races but this looks like a Cheltenham Festival race itself with plenty of good winners in the line up Tom Scu rides our grey and he also rides Thistlecrack in the Cleeve hurdle for Colin Tizzard. Fingers crossed Tom can have a good day.
It was a good performance from Taj Badalanadabad to win at Huntingdon yesterday. He was settled in rear and made good progress through the final circuit to win by 1 length at 12/1. There was good prize money for this race with £11,573.60 for the winner. This was the furthest trip 'Taj' had tackled and he seemed to stay very well so this should open up more opportunities for him in the future. It was great for owner William Frewen who has bee a fantastic supporter of Pond House for many years. Tom Scu had a double yesterday as he also one the first race on Zanstra for the Tizzard's.
Andy Murray played well to win his semi final in the Australian Open, beating World number 14, Raonic. Andy looked the stronger and stayed on well! Sound like I am talking about a 3 mile chaser! He now plays Novak Djokovic in the final tomorrow. They have played each other so many times and Andy will need to be at his very best to win.
Manchester United beat Derby 3-1 last night in the FA Cup. I was listening to Louis Van Gaal in the press conference afterwards and he seems more interested in the wine he had brought back from Holland! I must not have a go but I thought the scoreline flattered United! The big game today is Liverpool versus West Ham at 5.30pm. West Ham at 3/1 looks interesting. A few bets for me are Spurs at 2/5, West Brom 7/10 and Hull 19/20.
What is the difference between at buffalo and a bison? You can't wash your hands in a buffalo! Have a nice day.
