There are two meetings taking place this afternoon with a jumps card from our local track at Taunton as well as an all-weather flat card from Southwell.  The stable has three runners at Taunton; Heath Hunter, Master Red and Cork Citizen.  Heath Hunter carries top weight of 11-12 in the handicap hurdle and conditional jockey David Noonan claims a handy 5lbs off his back.  He has won five times during his career, with each success coming with cut in the ground - something he will certainly get today.  Even so, he is still 5lbs higher than his best winning mark.  Master Red makes his debut for the stable in the same race and is the mount of Tom Scudamore.  Winning Irish pointer/hunter chaser Cork Citizen also makes his first start for the stable this afternoon and he goes nicely at home.

Yesterday's runner Carqalin was disappointing in the bumper at Plumpton, although it was his first ever start and conditions were terrible.  He is better than this and can only improve for the experience.

I will be glued to the television this evening as my beloved Hammers are at home to Aston Villa.  It is on the box and I reckon West Ham look like a good bet at 17/20.  Meanwhile Arsenal look solid 6/5 favourites to beat Southampton and Spurs look good at 10/11 to beat Norwich.  I will be having a cheeky little treble...don't you just hate it when it seems so easy?!

Just think, you could win the Premier League, FA Cup, European Cup, Capital One Cup and every other cup, yet in the summer you lose your job.  That is what has happened to Manuel Pellegrini at Manchester City.  But before we all start to feel too sorry for him, let's be honest...anyone with half a football brain and the amount of money that City have to spend could do a decent job.

I see that the British Boxing Board have turned down former world heavyweight champion Frank Bruno's request for a boxing licence.  I know the 54 year old has taken some serious bangs to the head but I didn't realise it was that many.  You have to know when to call it a day in sport and never come back.  Fortunately for Bruno the Boxing Board have done him a big favour and prevented him from getting any more badly hurt.  Bruno should watch the Ian Botham profile on Sky - he said that as soon as he realised he was no longer as good as he was, he packed it in.

A Swiss study has found that cannabis users are less able to remember words when they reach middle ages...what was I saying again?!  It sounds like they have all gone to pot!
