The stable was among the winners again yesterday courtesy of the comfortable success of Navanman at Towcester in the 2m5f handicap hurdle.  The longer trip certainly seemed to help him as he travelled powerfully under a confident ride from Kieron Edgar to take it up between the last two and draw clear after the last.  He certainly appears capable of following-up and he will probably get further still having finished runner-up in an Irish point-to-point.  He will jump fences in time too so there are plenty of options open to him.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps action from Catterick and Chepstow as well as a couple of all-weather flat fixtures from Lingfield and Wolverhampton.  The stable has one runner, Port Navas in the bumper at Chepstow.  Our five year old is making his racecourse debut this afternoon so it will be a learning experience for him - Tom Scudamore is in the saddle.

The poor punters were left fuming yesterday after the 9/4 favourite Notebook and 5/1 chance Newton Geronimo refused to race in the 3.15pm at Towcester.  As they both came under orders, according to the rules punters will not get their money back...furthermore there wasn't even a stewards' inquiry into the incident.  They are quick enough to ban the jockeys for infractions, yet they cannot be bothered to look into what happened during a farcical start.  Fortunately some (but certainly not all) kind-hearted bookmakers refunded bets on those that refused to jump off.  As far as I can tell, if your horse doesn't jump the first you should get your money back - afterall, if you can't win, you certainly shouldn't be able to lose...or am I just being stupid?!

I see that they are trying to get £500,000 back from alleged Russian drugs cheat Lillya Shogukhova...if she did cheat, there is no way that they are going to be able to get the money back.  It will probably take all of that just to find her!

Chelsea are supposed to have turned down an offer of £57 million for Oscar from Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning.  It can't be a lot of fun being one of their fans...imagine trying to shout "Come on Jiangsu Suning!" - it's not the same as cheering for the mighty Hammers!

There is a good game on Sky tonight between Brighton and Brentford.  The kick-off is at 7.45pm and there should be plenty of goals.  I will be having a few quid on Brighton at 11/10 - you heard it here first!

So what if Jesus turned water into wine?  I once turned a student loan into vodka!  That's  not me personally, I have never been clever enough to be a student...
