Navanman completed a quick-fire hat-trick with success at Wetherby yesterday afternoon.  It was a good piece of placement by David who sent the seven year old out to win three times in the last week.  He was a welcome comeback winner for Michael Heard who was having his first ride since returning from an injury sustained in a fall at Cheltenham in November.  Navanman once again jumped and travelled supremely well and beat a fellow hat-trick seeker with the remainder of the field well behind.  He will make a nice staying chaser in time.  Earlier in the card, Ikrapol hinted at more than a little ability when runner-up in the maiden hurdle behind promising type Cobra de Mai and it shouldn't be too long before he is winning something similar.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps fixtures from Newbury and Warwick supported by some all-weather flat action from Lingfield and Wolverhampton.  David has five runners today with four at Newbury and another at Warwick.  Kieron Edgar goes to Warwick for the mount aboard Saint John Henry at 3.15pm while over at Newbury Gevrey Chambertin, Batavir, Ballynagour and Starchitect do duty.  It is a typical Saturday card with some extremely competitive looking racing.  Starchitect makes his debut for the stable in the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury and it is encouraging to see the four year old's from last season running so well and a competitive handicap like this which will likely be run at a fast pace should suit him.  Tom Scudamore is in the saddle and he only has 21 others to beat!  Meanwhile Ballynagour looks to have been found a good opportunity by David - he has never been the most consistent of types but he has loads of ability and would go very close if producing something near his best.

Nico de Boinville was the star turn at Kempton yesterday as he rode a four-timer.  He is certainly getting a few rides for the Henderson team and is riding well at present.

Sadly the weather has gone bad again in the Torquay area - it hasn't stopped raining down here and there is bound to be some flooding.  Why is it that it always rains when the kids break-up?!

I did my money on the cricket again yesterday as England lost to South Africa in their one day international...some people never learn.  The series now stands at 2-2, much like my betting on the cricket!

There are some good football matches to look forward to this afternoon with Chelsea playing Newcastle at 5.30pm and Sunderland taking on Manchester United at 12.45pm.  I will be having a little wager on Bournemouth at 11/10 and Crystal Palace at 13/10.  Tomorrow is when the real action takes place though with Arsenal against Leicester and Manchester City versus Spurs...there should be plenty of goals in those matches.
