There were divided opinions as to whether the stewards got the right result at Lingfield yesterday.  The 3.25pm race was a three way photo and the stewards called Lastkingofscotland the winner in the stewards room.  I felt Hayley Turner went for a bold run up the rails and ran out of room.  She finished second but got the result in the stewards room.  Cuthbert and Cat Hunter did run off a straight line but I think Hayley was pushing her luck going for that run up the rails.  If you backed the favourite, Lastkingofscotland I think you were lucky to collect but that is what racing is all about, opinions.

We had a sprinkling of snow again at Pond House earlier in the week and I was on the gallops taking a few snap shots of the horses.

Chartreux and Junior were having a little canter after there great efforts finishing third and second respectively behind Ashkazar at Cheltenham on Saturday.  They were both in fine form and have come out of their races really well.  Piraya was on the gallops ridden by Lottie Scudamore.

On the jumping front, I think we saw two good winners at Southwell yesterday.  Problema Tic looks a good hurdler in the making.  The five year old has now won all three of his races and could be one to keep an eye out for in the future.  The other horse to really impress me was the winner of the concluding Bumper, Knight Pass who has now won both of his starts.  This one is trained by Warren Greatrex and ridden by Wayne Hutchinson and it will be interesting to see will they save him for the Festival Bumper?

There was several football games played last night and after the results I am sure there are four managers who don't want to get a message today saying that the chairman would like to see them.  Carlo Ancelotti at Chelsea looks on the short list along with Gerard Houllier, Roy Hodgson and West Ham manager Avram Grant.  Their teams all lost last night and my team West Ham were beaten 5-0 at Newcastle and are now bottom of the table.  Mind you, football managers getting the sack these days is just a joke as they will get a big pay off and they normally get another job fairly quickly!
