Just a note for all - Fontwell are holding a 11am inspection on the chase track this morning to see if races can take place this afternoon. The hurdle course is absolutely fine and those races and the Bumper will take place as scheduled so just keep an eye out later this morning for more news from the course. David has one runner at Fontwell, Roi De Rose in the 3.30pm handicap chase. The lorry will have to leave to the races and we shall await to hear news, fingers crossed that the chases will go ahead. Roi De Rose won his last three chases in Switzerland and ran well enough on his British debut at Folkestone so it would be great to see him in action today and would be great for his fans as he even has his own facebook page! Bangor passed its early morning inspection but due to snow falling since they are now taking another look at 10am.
Looking back on yesterdays action, Nicky Henderson's Bumper horse Eright looked very useful at Huntingdon. He won by seven lengths for jockey Barry Geraghty and I think he should give his riding fee back as all he had to do was pull him up and steer him into the winners enclosure!
There is a good picture of trainer Bill Turner in the Racing Post today. Bill is riding a zebra although I think he should be on a giraffe, just think how good in a photo finish that animal would be!
Kieron Fallon has been backed to win the flat jockeys championship in 2011. Stan James have cut him from 7/2 to 3/1. I think you need one of the big yards to back you to win the title so that would be against Fallon unless someone has heard he might be offered a job from one of the big flat trainers?
Not even the rain could stop England winning the final test match down under by an innings! The ground looked empty apart from the barmy army. It is 24 years since we last won the Ashes in Australia and what a fantastic performance. I can't help wondering though, is it a great England team or more of an average Australian one?! It looks like most of the Aussie players would struggle to get in any of our county teams to be honest but lets gloat while we can and enjoy it! Alistair Cook was named man of the series and man of the match and has been awesome down under. Well done England!
