There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps action from Taunton and Wetherby supported by an all-weather flat card from Wolverhampton. Surprisingly, given the local meeting taking place the stable does not have any runners today. Stable jockey Tom Scudamore and conditional jockey David Noonan have a ride each and both are favourites and look to have good chances. Meanwhile another of our conditionals, Kieron Edgar travels all the way up to Wetherby to ride one for Richard Guest and he has less obvious credentials - I certainly won't be backing this one so let's test the theory about jockeys heading to race meetings for just one ride!
Unusually there was a horse to follow on the all-weather at Wolverhampton yesterday. Pao de Acuca won the amateur riders' race by sixteen lengths from the lowly mark of 51 (his second win in three days). That figure will certainly be taking a hike so I am sure he will be turned out again under a penalty as the handicapper will be hitting the four year old hard next Tuesday.

There was a good result for Manchester United as they beat Shrewsbury 3-0 in their F A Cup match last night. They now face the mighty West Ham in the quarter finals. With such a good result it has probably saved under siege manager Louis Van Gaal his job...I am being sarcastic!
Arsenal take on Barcelona tonight at 7.45pm. Messi, Neymar and Suarez have scored 91 goals between them so far this season - how much would those three cost in the transfer market? Arsenal are 4/1 to win at home tonight...are they really that far behind Barcelona? It dispels the myth that the Premier League is the greatest division in the world. I am not a fan of the Gunners but 4/1 looks too big to me and I could be tempted to have a little flutter.
There was a nasty incident in the rugby after Leeds prop Mitch Garbutt punched North Queenslands James Tamou. It was so clear cut and blatant that he should have been banned for the remainder of the season instead of the pathetic two game ban that he picked up. Even the F A would have given him a longer ban and that is really saying something!
World heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury says that his fitness regime includes a diet of hedgehogs. Apparently his brother breeds them along with bullfrogs...no wonder he is such a prickly character!

I went to the doctors the other day and all he keeps telling me that old age is catching up with me...now I know that can't be true! I am having a course of B12 injections at the moment - he knows I am an Irons supporter (and this is a true story).

What do you call a King who is only twelve inches tall? A ruler!
