It is good to see the stable in good form post-Cheltenham and the winners continued to flow from Pond House with the success of My Brother Sylvest yesterday at Taunton.  That was his seventh success and furthermore they have all been on good ground or faster.  He was given a positive ride by conditional jockey Michael Heard and despite banking the last on the far side he responded when challenged to grind out a hard fought victory in the gamest of fashion.  I did say yesterday that I thought he would go much better on the drying ground and so it proved.

We have one runner this afternoon as Closer To Home goes in the 2m2 1/2f handicap hurdle at 2.30pm.  He had shown a decent level of form on the flat in France, winning on a couple of occasions although he has yet to translate that ability to hurdles.  He has a light weight and Michael Heard takes a further 5lbs off his back and it is entirely possible that he may enjoy this better ground more.

I see that even Victoria Pendleton failed to increase the viewing figures for the Cheltenham Festival on Channel 4.  It will be interesting to see how the figures fare when coverage switches to ITV for a four year contract from 2017.  Let's hope that they do not make it too technical - I know that is one of the main reason Mrs Barnes found the whole thing a complete turn-off.  Let's hope they employ some characters to present it as well - someone who can have a bit of banter with each other rather than the vanilla cast they have now.

I see that former Everton and Manchester United boss David Moyes had a runner at Kelso yesterday and there is a great picture in the Racing Post of jockey Henry Brooke giving him the low-down after he finished fourth.  At least it is only one person and not eleven that he has to listen to!

Talking of the Post, there is an interesting advert in there today.  A professional punter for over thirty years is asking for outlets to get bets on.  Just be careful is all I will say - I have had numerous accounts closed and that isn't for large bets, just for showing a profit over a period of time.

World number one tennis player Novak Djokovic says that women tennis players should get the same amount of prize money as the men despite the fact that their matches are shorter.  I will not add anymore to that as I feel they are all being paid more than enough already.  When I won the England Table Tennis Championships back in the day I won a dart board!  Maybe they were trying to tell me something?!

Opinions.  Everybody has different opinions on different things.  For example, to me my girlfriend is the most wonderful, beautiful person in the world, but to my wife...
