This afternoon we have three meetings although the cards from Newton Abbot and Pontefract both have to pass inspections following plenty of rainfall yesterday. Ludlow goes ahead without any problems. The stable does not have any runners today so it looks like a quiet day. Yesterday Batavir fared best of our three runners, finishing third at Wincanton and he wasn't beaten that far. Maybe he needs to drop a few pounds from his current mark of 125?
I see that jockey Barry Geraghty is going to contest the 30 day ban that he was given in Ireland over the weekend. It does seem like a very long time so he had to appeal really. I did see the replay again yesterday and it still looks bad to me - if it had been a field full of 7lbs conditional jockeys or amateurs I would have said that they were useless. I think Barry Geraghty is much better than that so good luck to him.
Former champion flat jockey turned trainer Richard Hughes was disappointed by one of his runners, Jumping Jack yesterday. Explaining the poor run, Hughsie suggested that Jumping Jack had stage fright and was probably thinking about girls. I hope the horse didn't read it, it sounds as though he could be on the way to the vets!

What can Arsenal do with Jack Wilshere? They have put his contract talks on hold following another night club row. As far as I can see he will get fined a few weeks' wages which will seem like pocket change to a Premiership footballer. If Arsenal had any bottle they would cancel his contract. I ask you what he would be doing if he were not a pro-footballer?
Just because Chelsea have a new manager signed up, do they really deserve to be as short as 5/1 to win the Premier League next season? Leicester are 40/1 to win it...that seems a little insulting.
It is interesting to see the players practising for this week's Masters Golf. I normally swing two or three times in the nets and then onto the first tee. Maybe that is what I am doing wrong?!

What is two-thirds of a 99? The ice cream man's profit!
