There are three meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Newmarket and Southwell as well as a jumps fixture from Exeter. David runs two at Exeter this afternoon; Port Navas and Carqalin. Both are going to go off at long odds - Port Navas was pulled up on his hurdles debut last time, while Carqalin (pictured above) finished third at Plumpton on soft ground on his latest start. They are both entitled to improve although they are going to need to to figure - Tom Scudamore takes the mounts. Tom also rides a fairly well fancied one for Colin Tizzard called Justatenner - it looks to have a decent chance and they are even telling you how much to have on! Meanwhile it is good to stable conditionals Kieron Edgar and David Noonan picking up outside rides.
It looks as though Punchestown is going to be the place to be at the end of the month as unlucky Aintree faller Vautour looks set to take on Cue Card and Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Don Cossack. Indeed, nine of the eleven Grade One winners from Aintree are entered at Punchestown - it is not only great for racing, but there is also an amazing 'end of term' party atmosphere and I know that the staff in the yard are always keen to make the trip across.
We had a runner at Windsor on the level last night as Honeymoon Cocktail finished in mid-division in the 1m3 1/2f handicap and he looks as though he could do with more of a test of stamina these days. I did notice that the course has now been open for 150 years so the track have asked local brewers Windsor and Eton to create an 1866 beer. It will be on sale throughout the season...I wonder what an 1866 beer tastes like?

It seems a little early to be talking about county cricket and it certainly seems to be a dying part of the sport. Nobody seems interested in watching it anymore as it takes far too long. Years ago it was okay but life was a lot slower back then, nowadays everything seems to happen at 100mph. Anyway, England captain Alistair Cook had a good knock of 105 in a rain hit second day at Chelmsford.
There is a good football match between Manchester City and PSV tonight at 7.45pm on BT Sport Europe. City are 9/5 to win in 90 minutes and may be worth an interest.

I hate housework. You make the beds, you wash the dishes and six months later you have to start all over again - a classic quote from Joan Rivers.
