En Route To Ayr

Following the abandonment of Newbury today we are left with four meetings with jumping action from Ayr, Fontwell and Southwell and a flat card from Bath.  David does not have any runners today, although he is currently travelling to Scotland where he will have runners tomorrow on Ayr's Scottish Grand National card.  Conor O'Farrell and David Noonan have both picked up some nice outside rides at Fontwell today with Conor riding Saint Roque and Red Hanrahan for Paul Nicholls.

I see that two mile champion chaser Sprinter Sacre is being aimed at the Celebration Chase at Sandown tomorrow week.  He should certainly put a few people on the gate.  The crowds always appreciate class horses such as him, although to come back as he has done this season after a couple of seasons in the wilderness is quite extraordinary.

It didn't take long for recently crowned Masters golf champion Danny Willett to get involved in racehorse ownership.  He now has a share in Heart Locket with Mick Easterby - I can't for one minute think that Mick has his number yet otherwise he would have sold him more (and that is not only horses!).  Mick is a great character who can certainly spin a yarn - I particularly used to enjoy all the tales about the gambles that went astray, mind you I am willing to bet that quite a few went right!

What a result for Liverpool yesterday as they beat Borussia Dortmund 4-3 having trailed 3-1.  I love their manager Jurgen Klopp - he is so passionate about the game and you can see that he already loves the club and his players.  It was Liverpool's best night for a few years.

I see that snooker supremo Barry Hearn is upset by the deal that West Ham have on the Olympic Stadium.  He says that his dog could have negotiated a better deal for the tax payer!  What he did omit to say though was that West Ham were the only team who put a bid in for the stadium so it could very well have ended up being derelict.  It is a good deal though!

My friend has just bought himself a GTI car.  I told him that if he re-arranges the letters, then he has himself a personalised number plate!
