Impulsive American Schooling
It is a busy day on the racing front with five meetings, four jumps cards at Perth, Warwick, Exeter and Market Rasen plus a flat card at Beverley. David has six runners at three of the jumps meetings. Impulsive American runs in the 5.05pm at Perth. He bolted up at Ayr over this trip last weekend and he runs off the same handicap mark of 120. A similar run will make him hard to beat and he is looking for his third win in Scotland this season. He has in form jockey David Noonan on board, David had a double at Taunton last night. Prideofthecastle runs at Warwick at 4.10. Although trying a new trip the better ground should help and Conor O'Farrell rides.
At Exter David runs Port Navas, Brook, Perspicace and Carqalin. They all look to be in competitive races and would probably have to improve on recent form. Kieron Edgra and Michael Heard share the rides here. Baby Sherlock was fifth yesterday at Taunton and kept galloping all the way to the line. David should be able to place him to win a race.
Mr Mullins' first trip to Perth paid off yesterday when he had a 1-2 in the novice hurdle. Mind you, the outsider of the two, Up For Review was the winner at 5/1. He picked up just over £14,000 from this race.
Happy Birthday to the Queen who is 90 today. I see Her Majesty is going to present the winners trophy to the winner of the Derby this year. It will be the first time in her 64 year reign which surprises me a little.
I hope you were following my football treble yesterday, West Ham, Liverpool and Manchester United. The results were never in doubt, 3-1, 2-0 and 4-0. it's nice when you get it right! It is Arsenal versus West Brom tonight but the Gunners are 4/1 on.
I read in the paper that it is Brian Phelps birthday, he was a great Olympic Diver who won bronze in 1960. He was one of my sporting heroes all those years ago, ask your parents about him!
I was on water skis, stripped to the waist, skiing fast across the top of the surf, my hair back, my wife was in the boat ahead of me, rowing frantically! Woody Allen. Have a nice day.
