The stable had another nice winner yesterday when Impulsive American landed his second Scottish win in less than a week.  Our four year old has been busy this season but he certainly seems to be thriving as he stayed on well under conditional jockey David Noonan to land his third win of the season.  He was officially 8lbs ahead of the handicapper and I did say that if he ran to form he would be difficult to beat.  Meanwhile, Perspicace produced his best effort in a while to finish runner-up at Exeter - he could have bumped into a useful winner in Fort Carson and I wouldn't be surprised to see that one turned out again quickly under a penalty.  Prideofthecastle was also second at Warwick - he stayed the longer trip of 3m5f well and he was conceding 12lbs to the winner so this was a good performance and it is good to see the Pond House team in good form as the season draws to a close.

There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with three jumps cards from Perth, Chepstow and Plumpton, while there are flat fixtures from Sandown and Doncaster.  David runs Purple 'N Gold and Dusk Till Dawn at Chepstow today.  Purple 'N Gold finished a good third at Ascot last time and he looks as though he is worth a try at this longer distance of 2m3 1/2f.  He is a 10/1 shot according to the Post but it would be no surprise if he were to run well.  Meanwhile, Dusk Till Dawn is a point-to-point winner in Ireland and he has the assistance of in-form conditional jockey David Noonan taking 5lbs off his back - unusually for one with his background, this forecast better ground may well suit him.

I see that Paul Nicholls is now an 8/11 chance to win the trainers' championship after he extended his lead over Willie Mullins to £53,557.  He had five runners yesterday and they were all in the money so it should be a thriller tomorrow at Sandown.

Arsenal beat West Brom 2-0 and there were plenty of empty seats in the stadium.  I don't think that manager Arsene Wenger has any idea about the expectations of the club's supporters.  They are not interested in finishing in the top four, the want to win titles and silverware.  My Arsenal supporting pals tell me it has been too long since they won the championship...try being a West Ham fan!

Meanwhile, England manager Roy Hodgson has assured Wayne Rooney a place in his Euro 2016 squad.  I find this had to understand as Rooney is an out of form, ageing striker who doesn't score many goals.  I would have thought that Vardy, Kane and ever Carrol should be in front of Rooney.
