There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat action from Lingfield, Hamilton and Kempton as well a couple of jumps fixtures from Market Rasen and Newton Abbot.  David runs Dusk Till Dawn, Mango Cap and The Two Amigos at Newton Abbot.  Dusk Till Dawn was the winner of an Irish point-to-point in 2015 and has shown some fair placed form since switching to rules - he unseated Tom Scudamore last time so a clear round is top priority and with one of those he should go close.  Mango Cap hasn't reproduced his French form as yet and would need to improve on what he has shown on these shores to figure in a tight little race.  The Two Amigos (pictured above) makes his debut for the stable having won an Irish point-to-point on good ground - he goes nicely at home and even over this shorter trip, a big run is expected although I know the Henderson team fancy Armaans Wish who won on his debut.

I see that it is Rod Millman's 59th birthday today.  Rod used to ride for Martin in the early days and I still remember myself and MCP driving a horse which Rod said was a good thing, all the way to Market Rasen.  Of course, it finished well beaten so we made Rod drive all the way home while we went to sleep...it was never easy riding for Martin!  Anway, many happy returns Rod.

Andy Murray came from two sets down to beat 37 year old Stepanek in his French Open match yesterday.  The papers are putting it down to his recent fall out with former coach Amelie Mauresmo.  Mind you, Mauresmo said that Murray's complex personality was a factor in the split.  She might have a point - something that Murray was short of in the first two sets yesterday!

The management contract between Jose Mourinho and Manchester United has yet to be signed and sealed.  I think that United should give him a low wage and a huge bonus should they win the Premier League...I wonder if Mourinho would agree?

It is the Monaco Grand Prix this weekend and it will be interesting to see whether the Mercedes team-mates have managed to resolve their differences after their collision in Spain.  Monaco is a tight and narrow track so there is plenty of opportunity for error.  Top speed isn't as important around there either so it would be no surprise to see Ferrari and Red Bull snapping at the Mercedes' heels again.

Could somebody please advise how I disable the auto-correct function on Mrs Barnes?   Oops, I had better go...she is coming!
