There are six meetings taking place this afternoon with flat action from Haydock, Bath, Brighton, Musselburgh and Pontefract, while there is also a jumps fixture from Worcester. The yard has three runners this evening at Worcester; Purple 'N Gold, Skylander and Westbrooke Warrior. Purple 'N Gold goes in the 6.50pm race, a 2m4f handicap chase - what a fantastic claim he has been, winning on the flat, over hurdles and over fences...and he was David's 1,000th winner to boot. Not bad for £8,000! He was a gutsy winner last time out at Haydock but is 5lbs higher tonight and this is a tricky little race - even so, he should go well once again under Tom Scudamore. Skylander goes in the same race and needs to bounce back from a below-par effort at Aintree last time under Michael Heard, while Westbrooke Warrior contests the novices' hurdle at 7.50pm. He is open to plenty of improvement but needs to learn to settle better.
There was a good fight in the States - no, not boxing but horse racing! It was between jockeys Natalie Turner and Freddy Jose Manrique Guerrero. As they rounded the final turn Guerrero appeared to elbow Turner away. Turner reacted by trying to strike her opponent three times over the head with her whip. Guerrero received a thirty day ban and was ordered to attend an anger management class. Turner is yet to be sanctioned. Perhaps they should weigh out in boxing gloves?!

What a game to look forward to tonight as England take on Australia on ITV at 7.45pm...and yes, I am being sarcastic. What will we learn from playing Australia? Less than nothing! England are 2/7 favourites and this just looks like a big waste of time. Mrs Barnes has the hump as there is only one soap one - she needn't worry though, I think I would rather be watching the soap operas!
I was interested to see that the Russian's have selected Maria Sharapova for their Olympic tennis team. I must be missing something as I thought she was currently on a drugs suspension! The Russian's seem to pay scant regard to the the drug regulations and it is about time that it was sorted out.

Final thought for the day..."I thought that Deep Throat was a movie about giraffes!" You just gotta love Bob Hope! Have a nice day...
