It is a good day for fans of the jumps.  There are three National Hunt fixtures from Fontwell, Kelso and Uttoxeter and David runs Kie in the 2m4f handicap chase and Perspicace in the two mile handicap hurdle at Uttoxeter.  Kie has run a couple of sound races this season to finish fourth on both occasions - he should go well again in the hands of Tom Scudamore.  Meanwhile Perspicace carries top weight in the 4.50pm race following his success at Worcester - this will be harder with 12-1 on his back, but it is by no means impossible that he could follow-up.  David Noonan and Conor O'Farrell both head to Fontwell where they have picked up some nice outside rides.

I see that the World Health Organisation have suggested that the Rio Olympics should be moved or postponed because of the ongoing Zika virus crisis.  The top 125 scientists have sent a letter telling the Olympic Committee but they have rejected the claim saying that it saw no need to move or delay the games.  Can you believe it...what would the top 125 scientists in the world know?  Are the Brazlians nuts?

There was more sport scandal when two tour snooker players have been banned over betting irregularities and abuse on social media websites.  It used to go on quite a lot in the dark old days when lesser players didn't earn much money...or so I am told.

The only World Cup England are likely to win is darts rather than football.  England are the holders although they could well struggle against Holland who have Michael Van Gerwen and Raymond Van Barneveld.  The action starts in Germany this week.  Whoever would have thought that 'arrers would have turned into such a popular sport?

Finally, a brain teaser to round off the weekend...what was Henry VIII's middle name?  Think about it
