 Impulsive American - Won at Musselburgh

If you are a jumps fan, bad luck today!  There are four meetings but all of them are on the flat.  There is racing at Ayr, Brighton, Pontefract and Windsor.  It was a good Saturday for the yard with David having two winnners.  Castlemorris King won the handicap hurdle at Worcester and Impulsive American won on the flat at Musselburgh.  Castlemorris king was having his first run for David after he claimed him for £10,000 last time and now he has already won £6330 of that  money back.  He stayed on nicely to win by a neck so he should not go up in the handicap that much, who am I trying to kid!  I heard the track ran short of champagne after the race as he is owned by Stuart and Simon Mercer!  To follow up that win Impulsive American won for Jo Tracey in Scotland.  It was actually her birthday so it does not get any better that that to have a winner on your birthday - what planning by David!!  He looked in trouble at one time but in the end he won with a bit in hand.  It was an apprentice race so I am sure David will already have another race in mind for our versatile four year old.

They had to call the riot police to Epsom on Saturday and 11 people are in custody plus another eight were arrested earlier in the day.  It sounds like too much drink to me.  You have got to make the punishment more severe as this is the only was to try and stop behaviour like this.  A slap on the wrist is not enough, have Barnes justice!

Last night I sat up to watch AP play in Soccer Aid and I told MCP to watch it.  I kept getting phone calls from him during the match asking when AP was going to score,, I said he had better try and get on the pitch first!  AP did get on for just under 15 minutes at the end.  It was all in a good cause and they raised a lot of money, about £5 million I am told.  Mark Wright and Olly Murs both looked pretty useful for England.  

It is a shame that Any Murray is in the same era at Djokovic.  The Serb won the French Open tennis final 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-4. I won a few quid and got my Serena Williams money back.
