Quiet Thursday

Today we have five meetings, flat cards at Newbury, Nottingham, Yarmouth and Haydock and a jumps card at Uttoxeter this evening.  David does not have any runners today.  David Noonan has picked up some good rides at Uttoxeter with two favourites, Mrs Burbridge and G for Ginger.  If Mrs Burbridge stays this 2m7f trip she should win again off a mark of 74.  Her last win at Towcester was over 2 miles but I think she will stay.

Coral has the worst Cheltenham since 2003 which is a lovely sound to your ears!  They did however get a lot of their losses back on the Grand National.  There is always a catch and it is not always on the brief case - I have seen the advert!

It is Steve Smith-Eccles' 61st birthday today.  I only mention that as Steve, Johnny Francome, Peter Scu and Graham Bradley were playing golf on Tuesday at the Thurlestone and my son Lester runs the pro shop.  He said they seemed like four characters and never stopped talking!  I wonder if they liked the golf course?!

I love Brendan Powell's tweet "could someone send me a Frankel please"!  I would think he is not the only trainer who wishes that!

England are 1-3 on to win the final cricket test against Sri Lanka.  I am not sure I would take such a short price.  The draw at 7-2 looks better to me, less money to have on!

I cannot believe that a punter in Kent went into a betting shop and had £10,000 on England to win the Euros.  I wonder how far the men in white coats were behind him?!

Maria Sharapova has got a two year ban for taking drugs.  I cannot beleive that she or her 20 man team did not know she was taking a banned drug.  She is lucky to get away with only a two year ban and how can Nike stand by her and keep sponsoring her?!  I must be some sort of dope or am I missing something?!
