There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat action from Carlisle, Salisbury, Kempton and Bath while there is also a jumps fixture from Worcester.  There is some great prize money on offer at Carlisle with over £130,000 in prize money up for grabs.  David runs classy hurdler/chaser Dell' Arca (pictured above) on the level at Salisbury at 4.20pm.  It is his first run on the level since joining the stable and it is a 1m6f handicap with Ryan Moore doing the steering - I needn't really say any more.  The Post have us as the 6/4 jolly...that is the horse, not Ryan!  Meanwhile, the stable has four runners at Worcester with Knight Crusader, Stay Out Of Court, Low Key and Thunder Pass.  Both Stay Out Of Court and Knight Crusader are having their first starts for the stable and look to have been found decent opportunities.  Tom Scudamore is aboard all of them and it could be a good day for the stable.

Here is a fascinating fact for you...did you know that the bell they race for at Carlisle has been taking place since 1599?  Talking of Carlisle, did you know that they are big manufacturers of custard creams with over 6.5 million biscuits being produced every 24 hours?  Not a lot of people know that!

How many cricket matches end up in a tied game?  Liam Plunkett smashed a six off of the last ball to snatch a draw with Sri Lanka in England's first one day cricket international.  Meanwhile there were great knocks from Butler (93) and Woakes (95) as England fought back from 82-6 while chasing 286 runs.  The crowd certainly had their money's worth and that is another reason why the one-day version of the game seems to be doing so well while the longer matches are struggling to draw the audiences.

Northern Ireland only lost 1-0 to Germany last night but they still progress to the next round of the European Championships as Turkey only won 2-0.  What a performance from the Northern Ireland goalkeeper Michael McGovern - he was absolutely brilliant, stopping at least four great goals.  This was the performance of the championship so far.  Meanwhile all of the home nations seen to have qualified so that is great news.

Italy play Ireland on ITV tonight at 8pm and you can back the Italians at 29/20 to win...yes, I know - you do get some funny odds these days!

If I wasn't sure before, I am certainly convinced now after England manager Roy Hodgson said, "The way we are playing I am not frightened of anybody".  He has definitely lost the plot!  Either that or I have been watching the wrong team!
