Perspicace returns to the flat at Chester

Today we have six meetings all on the flat at Newcastle, Newmarket, Windsor, Chester, Doncaster and Lingfield.  It is amazing that it is a Saturday and there are no jumps meetings!  David has the one runner, Perspicace in the last race at Chester, a 2mile handicap.  The Post have him in at 9/2 joint favourite but it does look a very open race.  He has been in good form over hurdles of late, winning his last two starts and if he takes this level of form back on the flat he should go close.  Sam Hitchcott rides.  The big race of the day is the Northumberland Plate at Newcastle, 4.15pm.  There are 20 runners over 2 miles and they go 6/1 the field.  It is the first time they have held the contest on the all-weather surface, on the Tapeta so it will be interesting to see how it all goes.

Richard Johnson is the new captain of the jump jockeys when they take on the three day eventers on 9th July.  Tom Scu is also on the team along with Wayne Hutchinson and John Francome.  It will be held during the Barbury International Horse Trials.  It should be a good day out if anyone is interested in going.

The big match today is Wales v Northern Ireland at 5pm.  You can back Wales at 21/20.  The big fight is Anthony Joshua versus Dominic Breazeale at 10pm.  Joshua is 18/1 on to win.  The best bets are to guess what round Joshua will not Dominic out.  The fight is only big in the size of the fighters!

I am not a great rugby union man but anytime we can whitewash the Aussies I am interested!  There is nothing better than rubbing an Aussies face in it!  Come on England!

We beat Sri Lanka at cricket yesterday thanks to two great 100's from Alex Hales and Jason Roy.  The unbroken partnership of 256 is the highest England partnership ever in a one day international.  Sport in this country is going well at the moment.

My local opticians got busted.  It turns out all his eye charts were out of focus!  Jack Dee.  Have a nice day.
