4 Worcester Runners

There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Catterick, Bath and Kempton while there is jumps action from Perth and Worcester.  David runs Brook, Houston Dynimo, Lady Of Longstone and Purple 'N Gold at Worcester.  They are all fairly big prices with Lady Of Lonstone and Purple 'N Gold shortest at 7/1 and 15/2 respectively.  Those two have been running consistently well for a long time and they should perform with credit once again.  Purple 'N Gold reverts to hurdles for the first time in a while from a lower mark and that should help him on what looks a tricky day for the stable.

I was amused to read owner Andy Taylor's comments after his Monsieur Joe won Hamilton's feature race.  He said, "Rather than give him a gallop at hoe we came here for one and it ended up a gallop worth nearly £10,000".  I am not sure you are allowed to say that he went to the racecourse for a gallop!

I was watching former England manager Roy Hodson's press conference with bemusement yesterday.  His opening line was, "I don't know why I am here", well I have no idea why he was ever manager.  He says that he has left a better bunch of players than the ones he inherited, although clearly I am looking at the wrong matches.  How on earth can the FA let these players who have failed so miserably help choose the next manager?  It is unbelievable and I wonder who will be the next FA yes man?  What about FA chief executive Martin Glenn, "I'm no football expert", well that is all you need to know...

You know it must be Wimbledon fortnight as summer has been cancelled and the rains have set in.  What a match for Marcus Willis today who is ranked 772 in the world as he takes on seven times Wimbledon champion Roger Federer on centre court.  Marcus has won more money at this Wimbledon championship than all of his previous winnings put together.  Mind you, in 2001 Ivanisevic won as a wild card entrant and before that Boris Becker won as an unseeded player so there is hope...what am I talking about, he is facing an impossible task!
