I'm afraid jumps fans have to go without for another couple of days as there are six fixtures taking place this afternoon and they are all on the level. The action comes from Newmarket, Ascot, York, Chepstow, Chester and Musselburgh. Chepstow and Chester take place tonight so at least it gives some of the jockeys the opportunity to ride at two meetings. There is an interesting race for lady amateur riders and I always look for Miss S Brotherton as she is head and shoulders above her contemporaries - she takes the ride aboard Call Out Loud for Michael Appleby and for that reason alone they look to have a good chance.
I had to smile when I read that trainer John Gosden said of Town Plate winner, Almagest "I was obviously running him over the wrong trip." The Town Plate trip is 3m6f and Gosden had previously sold him to Mick Easterby!
The big race of the day is the Falmouth Stakes at 4.15pm, a Group One contest for fillies and mares. The French raider Usherette is the odds-on favourite having won all four of her starts this season - a word of warning though, she has never won on good/firm ground so I would advise a little caution before wading in.

Home nation France beat Germany 2-0 in the semi-finals of the European Cup last night to set-up a clash with Ronaldo Portugal. I don't know why home advantage is so important, but clearly it is beneficial - surely a football pitch is a football pitch is a football pitch? Not that it made any difference, but I thought the decision to award France a penalty was very harsh...I don't think the German defender handled the ball, he was trying to protect his face...I am a ref now!
I cannot believe the ridiculous list of people who are supposed to be helping the FA appoint the next England manager. There is only one man for the job as far as I am concerned and that is Harry Redknapp. He would certainly get the players on his side and they would definitely know what is expected of them. Cut out the nonsense and get on with it!
Looking at today's Wimbledon semi-final between Andy Murray and Thomas Berdych, there doesn't look to be too much love lost between the pair so the match could get a bit heated. I will still be siding with Murray.
