Gabrial the Great
returns to Newton Abbot today
There are three meetings today, a flat card at Redcar plus two jumps cards at Stratford and Newton Abbot. David has two runners at Newton Abbot, Gabrial the Great and Houston Dynimo. Gabrial the Great runs in the 3.10 novice chase over 2 miles and Tom Scu rides. He was a winner at the track last time out on his chasing debut and it looks like we have the Paul Nicholls trained Keltus to beat. He does have to give us four pounds so hopefully that will be the deciding factor. Houston Dynimo runs in the 4.20 handicap chase over 3m2f. Our 11 year old keeps running well but has not got his head in front for a while. David Noonan takes a handy three pounds off and he keeps coming down the weights so hopefully he will run well again.
Standing Ovation is David's runner at Stratford. Michael Heard rides taking a handy five pounds off. He is has been a little below his best of late but today represents a drop in class and he will love the better ground and trip and hopefully it will see him return to form.
I see Frankie Dettori loves riding winners for Hugo Palmer, "you all get a good drink when you win!" he was he has said. I would have thought that Frankie would have enough money to last a life time or is he talking about a liquid drink?! Frankie is 10 short of riding 3000 winners so it shouldn't be too long now, I wonder how many flying dismounts he has done?!
Golfer Andrew Johnson does not look like a sportsman, his nickname is beefy and the fans wave beefburgers at him! He did a good interview on the TV and he sounds like a fun guy. He has a big beard as well and so I would think he could get a good sponsorship deal from gillete or maybe from a burger firm!
Newcastle United were of course relegated from the Premiership and are now of course in the Championship but they have already sold 33,000 season tickets. The club get unbelievable support from their fans. They have also spent £30 million on five new players so they could be a good bet to come straight back up.
Phil Taylor goes for his 16th World Darts title starting tomorrow in Blackpool against Robbie 'Kong' Green. The championships is in the Winter Gardens and I bet the atmosphere will be brilliant. There will be plenty of fancy dress outfits and lots of drinking that is for sure!
My wife is driving be to drink, consider yourself lucky lad, mine makes me walk! Have a good day.
