Today we have five meetings taking place with flat action from Goodwood, Beverley and Yarmouth while there are National Hunt fixtures from Perth and Worcester.  The stable has two runners at Worcester; Skylander and Lady Of Longstone, while Impulsive American (pictured above) is on duty at Perth.  Impulsive American takes in a two runner novices' chase and the Post make him the 1/2 favourite to maintain his unbeaten record over fences.  He looks like a good thing on these terms although these two runner races are invariably trappy - Tom Scudamore is in the saddle.

Lady Of Longstone makes her chase debut in the 6.10pm at Worcester and she is partnered by regular rider Michael Heard who takes a handy 5lbs off her back.  Jumping was one of her fortes over hurdles and she has schooled well over the larger obstacles at home.  She is a 9/2 chance in the Post and can be useful on her day.  Skylander runs in the 7.40pm race and would need to improve on his two starts this season to figure here - he is a 10/1 chance and will be partnered by leading conditional jockey David Noonan.

Perspicace ran creditably at Newton Abbot, finishing fourth in a competitive little handicap hurdle.  He looks as though he could do with coming down a few pounds in the handicap.  Also on the card, there was a gamble landed when Spring Steel was backed from 20/1 into 5's - his five previous starts read 'PPPPP'!  Apparently he had benefitted from a wind operation, although the trainer claims not to know who had backed him...maybe it was the vet?!

There was a bigger shock at Wolverhampton last night as Dandy Flame landed the five furlong maiden at odds of 200/1 - the joint-second longest winning SP ever recorded.  The trainer/owner Jose Santos said that he had a bit on...hopefully he backed it on the exchanges where he was available at odds of 763/1!

England won the second cricket Test match against Pakistan and are now just 4/6 to win the series and 8/13 to win the next match at Edgbaston.  The mystery remains, how on earth did they manage to lose the first match?

Did you know that this coming Saturday marks the 50th anniversary of West Ham winning the World Cup?  Hurst, Moore and Peters...what England would give to have three players of their calibre again.

There was trouble yesterday when the toilet in Brixham police station was stolen.  Unfortunately the cops have nothing to go on!  Sorry, that one is at the bottom of my jokes list...
