It was a good day for the stable yesterday as Impulsive American won the novices' chase at Perth last night taking his tally over fences to two out of two.  He has been an amazing little horse for the stable since joining us last season, winning twice on the flat, three times over hurdles and now twice over fences.  He seems to like it up in Scotland as that is now his fifth win north of the border!  His task was made somewhat easier when his sole rival; Hostile Fire took a fatal fall at the third last - our thoughts are with his connections.  Meanwhile both Lady Of Longstone and Skylander performed creditably at Worcester and should both be capable of winning races over the coming months.

There are five meetings taking place this afternoon with flat cards from Goodwood, Redcar, Sandown and Leicester, while it is the second day of Perth's jumps fixture.  Impulsive American could turn out again today in the 2.45pm race which is a handicap hurdle - he would have leading claims if taking his chance.

The big race of the day is undoubtedly the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood and it features a rematch of the three Guineas winners Galileo Gold, Awtaad and The Gurkha.  Aidan O'Brien only saddles the one runner and for me that is a positive for The Gurkha's chances and I might have a little interest at 2/1 for him to gain revenge under Ryan Moore.

Many happy returns to Conor O'Farrell who is 27 today.  Conor has ridden plenty of winners for the stable down the years including a Cheltenham Festival victory aboard Buena Vista in the Pertemps Hurdle.  He is honoured - he even has his picture in today's Post!

Matt Chapman always seems to get his man...the orange presenter tried to get an interview with Nicky MacKay after he rode Blue Geranium at Yarmouth yesterday.  MacKay was was on the phone to the owners for quite a long time but that did not stop Chapman from blocking his way and getting a brief soundbite anyway!

I see that Paul Pogba's transfer to Manchester United is being held up by agent Mino Raiola as he wants a £25 million fee for all the work he has done!  Manchester United and Juventus are unsurprisingly not very keen to pay it...the world has truly gone mad!  I wonder how many phone calls he had to make for his £25 million?!

I see that tennis legend Roger Federer is the latest big name to miss the Rio Olympics but he has a legitimate excuse as he has a knee problem that will also stop him participating in the US Open.  He will be out until next year and that is the problem with getting older...everything takes longer to recover from.

The US PGA golf starts tomorrow and I will be having a few fun bets to give me an interest while I am viewing.  I will be backing Dustin Johnson at 8/1, Matt Kurcher at 50/1 and Jason Day at 10's...you heard it here first!
