There are six meetings taking place this afternoon with action on the flat from Goodwood, Thirsk, Newmarket, Bath and Musselburgh, while there is a jumps fixture from Bangor. Tom Scudamore has picked up an outside ride at the meeting while conditional jockey David Noonan has three, although they may struggle to get a winner today. Tom had a good day yesterday, riding a double at Stratford.
Goodwood didn't look quite so glorious yesterday afternoon when the band of rain and mist descended on the downs making visibility very poor. You had to feel sorry for all the ladies that had gone to the trouble of getting all dressed up in their finery. Having said that, Channel 4 presenter Emma Spencer's hat would not have kept one drop of rain off of her head - it was the smallest hat I have ever seen.
The good thing of the day (and everyone seems to be on it) is Franklin D in the Golden Mile at 3.10pm. He has a good draw but he also has 21 rivals against him. You can still get a bit of 4/1 this morning if you are quick.
Many happy returns to long standing owner Terry Neill who has had some cracking horses at Pond House down the years. Terry is a life-long Liverpool supporter...how did he get such an attractive wife?! Only joking, we hope you have a great day Terry.

There is only a week left before the start of the Summer Olympics from Rio. The place is rife with crime and 38,000 soldiers will be on duty in the city during the games. The safest place to watch the action will be at home in front of your television and that is exactly where I will be...and I am not kidding.
What a round of golf from Mirim Lee in the Ricoho Womens' British Open at Woburn. She shot a championship record equalling 62 in the first round. Britain's Charly Hull shot a three under par round of 69 and is the highest placed of the home players. She has been a member at Woburn since the age of 10 so she should know her way around and definitely has the advantage of a bit of local knowledge.

I have been listening to a cassette of protest songs...I think it must be a demo tape! Have a nice day...
