Poisoned Berry - Winner at Worcester
Today there are five meetings all on the flat at Newbury, Nottingham, Newcastle, Catterick and Newmarket. The best race of the day looks to be the Bathwick Tyres fillies Listed race at Newbury. There are 11 runners and only two of them have not won a race so far. There is £25,000 of prize money up for grabs. Yesterday at Worcester was a fairly good day. For N Against was second and was only beaten 3/4 of a length at 8/1. Poisoned Berry won the Mares bumper at 9/2 beathing the 11/4 favourite Black Sam by 1 1/2 lengths. She was a good price and was always just doing enough to beat the favourite, it was a good yard debut from our four year old. The disappointing one was of course French newcomer Citrus who ran no sort of race at all. Some of his French form was on soft/heavy going so hopefully we can write this run off as he has got to be better than this.
I love what Lady Charlie Hayness-Vickery said in the programme at Beverley. She was also one of the riders in the camel race they had at the track yesterday. She said "I'm driven by determination, speed and gin"! Maybe that is what drives Oarsome rower Katherine Grainger who after winning a silver medal in Rio yesterday has become the most decorated GB female Olympian. This was her fifth Olympic medal so many congratulations to her a phenomenal achievement.
I also love Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri's comments, he says there is more chance of ET landing in Piccadilly Circus than Leicester winning the title again! I like his sense of humour, mind you he did a terrific job last season and I just wish I had put some money on them!
What a great knock from Moeen Ali who scored 108 runs to save England who were all out for 328. Mind you, Pakistan have already lost a wicket having only scored three runs! Have a good day.
