There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with the action coming from Ripon, Kempton, Leicester and Wolverhampton.  They say it is a long way to Tipperary but if you do make the effort you will be rewarded with the most prize money - there is also some jumping action to boot.  I see that Coolmore have been splashing out again as they have signed off £1.4 million for a Galileo half-sister to Chicquite.  At first I thought that it seemed like an awful lot of money and then I thought about how it compared to a football transfer and that sort of money would just about get you the ice cream seller!  It puts everything into perspective.

Legendary northern trainer Mick Easterby is always good value for a quote and I had to laugh at his latest comments in the Racing Post.  He said, "I've asked David about taking over but he says he doesn't want to - he thinks if he takes over I will live longer!"  When I used to go to the Newmarket sales with Martin, Mick would tell us some great tales about gambles that went astray - he is no mug though and I bet for every one that went awry there were plenty more that were successful.

I see that Katie Walsh is heading over to Australia to ride in the Grand National Steeplechase at Ballarat and she will be bidding to follow in her brother Ruby's footsteps as he has already won the race.  Her mount is called I'll'ava'alf for trainer Patrick Ryan.  They have had so much bad weather in Australia that the fixture is now only a one day meeting.  Katie then heads to Adelaide to ride for an Irish team of jockeys against the Australians...it's all go for some riders.

Manchester City travel to Bucharest to play Steaua tonight in a Champions League qualifier.  The teams have to do so much travelling these days.  City are 1/2 favourites to prevail and I think I will put them in a cheeky little multiple with Norwich who are 17/20 to beat Bristol City, Aston Villa at 11/10 to beat Huddersfield and Brighton at 8/15 to beat Rotherham.

I am sure David was thrilled to see Chelsea beat West Ham 2-1 last night.  How did Costa stay on the pitch after he embedded his studs in Adrian's ankles - it should have been a straight red (I'm not bitter or anything)!

I am trying this new sex diet.  Apparently the more sex you have, the more weight you lose.  So far I have gained two stone!  Have a nice day...
