Two at Stratford

Today we have six meetings, five flat cards at Haydock, Ascot, Kempton, Thirsk and Wolverhampton plus a jumps card at Stratford.  David has two runners at Stratford, Purple N Gold and Tobacco Road.  Purple N Gold runs in the 3.35pm, 2m6f handicap chase.  He looks like he needs this trip these days but he is still three pounds higher than his best winning mark of 130.  It will be interesting to see if he does stay.  Tobacco Road runs in the 4.05pm novice hurdle.  The six year old is having his first run for the yard.  He was useful on the flat, rated 87 but he has not run since October 2015.  Tom Scu rides them both.  Tom also has outside rides with chances. Theatre Flame in the 2.30pm and Don'ttellthemissis in the 5.10pm.  I bet a lot of husbands say that quite often to their mates!

There is a good Group 1 at Haydock at 4.30pm..  There are 17 runners over 6 furlongs for £162,190.60 in prize money up for grabs.  The trip will suit favourite Limato but the ground needs to stay good or faster.  I see harness racing will be at Newcastle next Friday for the first time.  I used to watch it a lot when I lived in Sweden.  The Swedes are very big on this type of racing, mind you I could not really get into it!

In the football tomorrow Engalnd have their first big match under new manager Sam Allardye.  It is live on ITV at 5pm and England are 21/20 to win and we have beaten them the last four times we have played them.

Lewis Hamilton says you must get on pole position for the Italian Grand Prix which starts tomorrow.  He says it is very hard to over take on the tight track.  Why do they not make it a bit wider?!  I love watching the over taking!

What is wrong with British tennis at the moment?!  Both Dan Evans and Jo Koonta have both made it through to the last 16 of the US Open.  I only thought we had Andy Murray!  Good luck to all the Brits in the next round.
