With the St Leger this weekend many people will be looking forward to the Leger Legends race at Doncaster on Wednesday.  The experts have already been talking about it and the odds compilers and Karl Burke reckon that Luke Harvey is the most likely winner...I thought they were supposed to be experts!  In fairness, Luke did have a 100% strike rate for Martin - he won aboard his only ride for him and MCP never put him up again!  Surely proper jockeys who have just retired such as Richard Hughes and Joseph O'Brien will have a massive advantage.  Anyway, the Legends race is great for racing, gives us an awful lot of enjoyment and raises plenty of money for excellent causes...I am looking forward to it already.

Today we have three meetings taking place with cards from Windsor and Brighton on the flat as well as a jumps card from Perth.  The stable has no runners this afternoon.

Jessica Leighton is responsible for media liaisons at York racecourse but yesterday she had the job of driving the carrying Paddington Bear around!  It is obviously a diverse and challenging role - I am sure she would probably have had more sense out of Paddington than the press she usually has to deal with!

Talk about a photo finish in the football, England scored in the 94th minute to beat Slovakia...I had just about given up my bet on England, how close can it get?  Still, I did not think that England played all that well and I would be considering playing some more of the youngsters for the future in these games.  England are not going to win anything based on this so it is about time they took a roll of the dice.  I loved Gary Lineker's remarks "After losing to Iceland we've now beaten a country with 15 times their population, we're back!"  A crispy statement indeed!

There was also a great draw for Northern Ireland away to the Czech Republic, while Scotland thumped Malta 5-1 away from home, so three good results on paper.

Lewis Hamilton started like Mrs Barnes at the traffic lights yesterday as he threw away what looked like a certain victory in the Italian Grand Prix at Monza.  It gifted the race to team mate Nico Rosberg and there is now only two points in the championship after 14 rounds.
