Another day without jumps racing as we look forward to Doncaster, Chester, Sandown and Salisbury on the level.  There are a couple of Group 2 races on the Doncaster card and the one that really interests me is the Doncaster Cup over 2m2f at 3.40pm.  This is a race that Martin won a few years ago now with a good horse called Far Cry who went on to finish an unlucky runner-up in the Ascot Gold Cup the following year.  Anyway, I digress...Willie Mullins runs Clondaw Warrior in the race and the booking of Ryan Moore looks significant.  The horse has been busy as he last ran in America and don't forget he is a useful National Hunt horse to boot - it should certainly make for interesting viewing.

Tom Scu finished a narrow runner-up in the jump jockey's Derby at Epsom yesterday aboard brother Michael's Jupiter Custos.  He is due to go up 4lbs in future handicaps so things are obviously going to get much harder for this four year old.

The flat jockeys' championship is certainly warming up with reigning champ Silvestre de Sousa riding a double at Chelmsford City yesterday drawing him level with Jim Crowley on 91 winners at the top of the table.  Having said that, Crowley is going to be busy today with ten rides booked and de Sousa only three.  Crowley really looks like he wants that title.

I was on the gallops yesterday and thought that you may be interested to see a little of what goes on behind the scenes when it comes to preparing the horses to race.  I took a picture of the watering system - it not only needs rolling after each gallop, it also needs watering.  There is a lot more that goes into training a winner than the public ever gets to see.

Now that Andy Murray is out of the US Open he can put his feet up and rest before his next Davis Cup match in Glasgow where it will be a semi-final match against Argentina.  The last time Britain retained the Davis Cup was 1936!  Just think of the reception Murray will receive in Glasgow - Britain should be good enough to win as some of our players appear to be improving and home field advantage will count for plenty.

Meanwhile, Serena Williams was surprisingly knocked out of the ladies' US tournament - I wonder if we are coming to the end of an era?

What a derby to look forward to tomorrow as Manchester City and Manchester United square off.  It will certainly make for fascinating viewing and is the acid test to see if United have really improved under Mourinho.
